Donations

Cheryl Day

Ok the announcement is-- I will be taking
over the donations box. This is until
Mama Eva has her baby and then moves.
She will then take it over after she
moves and gets settled. We want to jump
start this program. What is a donation box?
The donations box is to help our claymates in need.
For example if you are on a fixed income,
or unemployed, or live paycheck to paycheck ect...
Maybe you or your husband/wife lost their job,
or maybe your house bound and can't get your
supplies. We have all fallen on hard times at
some point in our life. We want to help those
of us who are having a hard time. I have had to
use this program myself and it was hard for me
to ask for help. So I know how hard it is to ask
for help.I want to make this as easy as possible.
This is handled privately. The only people that
will know you are using this program are myself,
NJ and Eva. You can feel free to share with the
list or not it is up to you. I will put this post
in the files section of the list. So you can view
it at anytime.

The donations box is different then the newbie box.
The newbie box is a gift to inspire you. To give
you a chance to see other clayers work. To try
some new products out on the market you may other
wise not try. The donations box is to help our
claymates that need us. I think NJ says it the
best when she says pay it forward. When we fall
on hard times it is very easy to get depressed.
Think of how great you feel when you are creating.
Then imagine if you couldn't because you could not
get supplies. Let's help our claymates that need us.
I will be going through my supplies will you go through
yours? I am starting with no supplies. So the first
thing we need to do is get some supplies. If you are new
or don't have extra supplies you can donate money.
Donated money will be used to buy supplies, gift certificates,
and postage. My Paypal account is ceceday@aol.com If you would
rather send a check that is fine too. Even as little as $5.00
will help a lot. When making a donation please put what
program it is for. Since I handle newbie boxes too I want
to keep them separate.

The things that we will need
Clay -- New or used just toss it in a box and I will
separate it and package it up. Tools-- Any tools will
be welcomed Blades, knitting needles, darning needles,
cutters, clay shapers, smoothers, little screw drivers,
wire cutters, clay guns, Needle nose pliers, New stiff
tooth brushes, dental tools, cookie cutters, Brayers,
acrylic rods, orange wood sticks (you get them at a
beauty supply store) kidney tools, any other tools you
may have that I didn't think of.

Larger tools -- Food Processors, and Pasta Machines
for those who can't or have a hard time conditioning
clay. A great place to find these is at a thrift store.
Have them plug it in to make sure it works.

Misc.---Pearlex powders, embossing powders, any
other powders, inks, glazes, TLS, texture sheets,
home made textures, molds of any kind store bought
or ones you have made, things to make molds out of,
aluminum foil, turkey skewers, bamboo skewers, baby
wipes, baby powder, corn starch, future floor wax,
Stir sticks (the kinds like miniature straws makes
great small holes), Altoid type tins, jewelry findings,
Beads, Paint brushes, Tweezers, Wire (any size any
color), 6x6 ceramic tiles or smaller (You can take
a tile from the oven to the freezer) Votive holders,
Sandpaper Here is a trick I got this from NJ Wet Dry
Sandpaper. Grit size 220, 320, 400, 600 and finer.
One sheet can be broken down into four pieces, the
different grits stacked from rough to finest and
stapled. That's Leigh Ross's trick and a good one too.

Supplies to package things up. Zip top bags of all
shapes and sizes. This is what we use to package things
after they have been separated.

Postage Is always needed for these programs. Even if
it is 1 priority stamp any donation is welcomed.

Gift Certificates from clayalley.com can be donated
in small amounts so the person we are helping can
pick the things she/he may need. If you want to donate
a gift certificate you can send it to my pay pal account.
Just put that it is for a gift certificate. That way I
can send them out as needed. Karen does so much I just
want to add to her work load. Then I can transfer any GC
that are left to Eva. My Pay Pal account # is ceceday@aol.com

Ok this is the list for now if anyone has any suggestions
please let me know. If you are in need of supplies email
me privately at ceceday@aol.com I will see what I can do.
Take care Hugs Cheryl D
