Last Post 03-29-08 Computer Half Nelson

I'm pointing to the $7.00 adaptor that saved me hundreds of dollars in being able to continue to use my old assed monitor. I took the picture with my Logitec WebCam still shot function and edited it with a trial copy of Corel MediaOne. The webcam software is acting up a bit. I'll have to check for a patch.

The digital camera I have is an Epson PhotoPC 700 was new-ish in 2001 when I went on the Easy Breezy pro bono tour. I had a diskette with the software and the old computer had an A drive. Probably one of the last I'll use in my tech life. So I copy the software to my external. Switch plugs and cables and copy that software to my new computer and evidently there's no WinZip on this new computer. Go to download WinZip and the software won't comply.

Hmmm, so I go google if there's a conflict with this old software and Vista and couldn't find anything. I went to Epson.com and in a forehead slapping moment realized I could download the software from there. I do. It unzips, no problemo, and now my digital camera has the software it needs and the regedit is updated. I could open the software from my external but I kept on getting this regedit update needed message. It would work but I wanted it to work smooth. Now that the regedit is updated I can open it without bother from the external as well. Handy that.

So I've gotten this new computer wrestled to the ground and made it cry "Uncle!". It took less time than I anticipated, frankly. I got the adapter on the 27th, and it's mid day on the 30th and all the software I use all the time has been installed, legit as well.

Premiere still needs to be installed but I've never gotten used to working with it. I'm wondering if I can get an upgrade from the Premier LE that I have. Worth a google. Looks like I should reinstall. It wouldn't start up from the external HDD saying there's not enough RAM. I got boatloads of RAM right now so I copy it over to the new computer desktop and it's saying it can't find a "dll" file. No harm in reinstalling. I should close everything down and do that.

Back... I installed the old Premiere LE on to the new computer, still not enough RAM. I increased the size of my virtual RAM, still not working. I googled and found that this is a Vista incompatibility to a lot of Adobe products. I went to Adobe and found that there's patches for Premiere - moving AVI files in and stuff like that. But if I can't get Premiere to open at all there's no reason to get a patch. I even shut off everything on the start up menu. Still no luck.

Does this computer have movie magic? Let me look. Yes it does. Ok I can use that with output from my webcam, so I can make new YouTube tutorials. I have 137 subscribers to date. It's been over a year since I loaded up anything new.  I should test the webcam to see if I can take a still shot for this page. Ok, it worked but I got bags under my eyes. Nothing I can do about that, I am pushing 60 after all.  I realize I have the same "fake smile" that my mother gives when a picture is being taken.

Now that I have the programs I usually use working it's time for me to take down the old computer and figure out where I'm going to stash it. It's like two pounds of lard in a one pound package around here. The new computer is on my work area so it has to find a permanent place. I'm a little sad to retire the old computer. It has been with me for such a long time. I have to square my shoulders and just start moving things around here and then there'll be no excuse for not claying.
