Mars squared Pluto, she should take up martial arts, get awards for beating people up, and transform her anger issues. My old astrology software wasn't compatible with my new computer. One software had to be operated in DOS mode, that's how old it was. So I was looking for new free astrology software and there's tons out there. I still miss my old software because I've been using them since I started using computers in 1987. After checking my web stats I'm surprised to see that folks are finding this blog. It's not linked from my home page but from Factoid Haven. There's folks who had my old blog linked to theirs and when I built this pre-fab web section those links because working links again. Re: the blog home page - Bushyaib and Amy are excited about my being contacted by the employment agent regarding the AP job at Viz. Bushyaib can totally see me becoming the Obachan to the young workers there. So we'll see. I know one thing, in this recession economy fantasy is going to be a big seller. Escapism movies, mags, graphic comix, all that will be hot. People need a break from the harsh realities of life. Also when one can't afford expensive big ticket items they can afford a graphic comix. That's how the expensive cookie craze started, during hard economic times. If you can't buy a pair of shoes for $100 you can afford a $3 cookie. The anime industry is popular with the young adults that are entering the work force. Amy is a great example of that. She's 24, works retail sales for H&M, is goth/lolita lite in her fashion sense and is a big time consumer of anime, buys numerous computer games for her little hand held, is a killer on City of Heroes, and loves the kawaii toys that come out of Japan. When she wants to just hang out with friends she goes to Japan Town. She's American born and bred. I believe she's part of a trend among young adults. I've always felt that I'm a bit Otaku in the geeky nerd sense, someone who is surrounded by technology and rarely leaves the house. Now the term refers to a fan of anime and manga. James bought the books on how to draw manga and I've been toying with the idea of creating polymer clay figures that have a manga look, but that are original creations of mine. My mother and I were at Kinokuniya bookstore at Japan Town and I was looking at this book on Harajuku girl fashion. I was being wistful looking at these young gals, thinking, "How fun that must be." Mom came up to me and looked at the book in my hand and she said "If you were there, young like that, you too would be a Harajuku girl." It was a bonding moment with me and my mother. I felt she finally understood my need for creative self expression in a way that she could relate to easily. |
