11-07-02: Mini Scenes -2

Fearless Leader: I got booted
dbluwitch26 joined the room
Fearless Leader: Dag
Fearless Leader: did you get booted too?
Fearless Leader: I had to reboot my machine, it went wonky
dbluwitch26: hi again AOL booted me
Fearless Leader: internet hiccoughs
dbluwitch26: ya darn bugs
Fearless Leader: have you ever seen the tape electrical kit?
Fearless Leader: you run the tape along the walls and cover with wall
paper
Fearless Leader: and then plug through the paper to the foil strip
dbluwitch26: ya i have a couple kits too that i've never used
Fearless Leader: here's mine I've never used, LOL
Fearless Leader: it just seems like a wind up with the power strip
Fearless Leader: you saw the power strip I'm using?
Fearless Leader: naw
Fearless Leader: you didn't, it has the on/off switch
Fearless Leader: let me show you, it's on the roof of the room box
dbluwitch26: i prefer those seems like a familiar thing to use plug in
Fearless Leader: I used a big picture behind the room box
Fearless Leader: and set it inches away from the window
Fearless Leader: and put light between the box and the picture
Fearless Leader: so if you go close to the window and look right and
left
Fearless Leader: you see more and more of the garden
Fearless Leader: trippy
Fearless Leader: dig
dbluwitch26: coolness
dbluwitch26: i'm into building gardens right now
techi_mom56 joined the room
dbluwitch26: need this incentive to get back inside
Fearless Leader: setting the picture back from the window
Fearless Leader: and making it larger than the window
Fearless Leader: will give you a changing background as people walk
past the room box
Fearless Leader: it's not a picture stuck to the window sill
Fearless Leader: it's a backdrop, that shows different stuff as you
walk by
Fearless Leader: it's a nifty effect, subtle
Fearless Leader: but it makes folks fall into the room box and feel
more real
dbluwitch26: even if you have landscaped that wold help for distance
Fearless Leader: in all movies there's mat painting
Fearless Leader: Gone with the Wind
Fearless Leader: the enterance to Tara is small, just the ground and
some bushes
Fearless Leader: the rest was painted
Fearless Leader: we can use some of these techniques to simulate
distance in a mini scene
dbluwitch26: wanted to do that but never got tot hollywood so i went
into the court room
Fearless Leader: so when dressing a mini scene, it's just like making
a movie set
seblack991234: All I see is a black screen.
Fearless Leader: close the cam window
Fearless Leader: and pick it up again, it's because I got booted
Fearless Leader: you need a fresh cam window
seblack991234: Oh, that makes sense.
Fearless Leader: didn't to me the first time, but you're smarter
Fearless Leader: LOL
Fearless Leader: I went "huh?"
Fearless Leader: ok, now let's talk small
frogger70301: So if I would do some of the landscapes from these
books, you wouldn't need to put a pic in the window, right?
frogger70301: Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt.
seblack991234: Whew...back on. LOL
Fearless Leader: Mitch
Fearless Leader: if you had a real landscape outside that window
Fearless Leader: with shadows and texture
Fearless Leader: you can toss the picture in the trash
Fearless Leader: yes siree
frogger70301: Oh, cool. I thought about doing them by themselves.
Fearless Leader: that three dimensional background can be only an inch
or two deep, but you can make it seem like it goes on for acres
frogger70301: But this makes more sense.
ladytex49 joined the room
Fearless Leader: just another way to peel the shrimp
ladytex49: I am here...
frogger70301:
Fearless Leader: ok, let's talk small
Fearless Leader: a doll house for this room box
Fearless Leader: keeping it cheap
Fearless Leader: this is a paper mache box
Fearless Leader: I cut out a window
Fearless Leader: treating this box like any other room we have to do
floors and walls and trim, right?
seblack991234: Speaking of small..... My mouse I use is about 2 1/2 by
1 1/4 inches. My son found it for me. Great on a very crowded desk.
Fearless Leader: this mouse is the size of your nose booger
Fearless Leader: LOL
Fearless Leader: Mr. Mousie, you know him Suz
seblack991234: Yep. LOL
seblack991234: sep mine is a computer mouse.
seblack991234: Do you still have Mrs. Mouse?
Fearless Leader: Mr. Mousie is the next mini scene
Fearless Leader: we're re dressing his room here
Fearless Leader: so ...
Fearless Leader: the curtains are 1/4th inch silk ribbon
Fearless Leader: the shelf is sliced woodsies
Fearless Leader: who does not know about Woodsies?
Fearless Leader: it's a good time to be introduced to them if you
don't
Fearless Leader: show of hands, anyone?
dbluwitch26: i like the new holiday shape woodsies
Fearless Leader: here's my stash
ladytex49: I dont know about woodsies I guess...
seblack991234: I have't seen those.
ladytex49: Ohh I know what you are talkin about now...I have lots of
those...
dbluwitch26: been using them to make yard ornaments for my
gardens...work sweet
seblack991234: You can also get freebie samples of little chips of
fomica from lumber yards to use.
ladytex49: You are sooo organized...
Fearless Leader: for geta
ladytex49: for geta??????
dbluwitch26: i always collect a few each time i visit menards
Fearless Leader: geta are Japanese shoes, three holes drilled starts
the process
Fearless Leader: it's not ghetto Italian like fuggetaboutit
Fearless Leader: LOL
Fearless Leader: ok dig
Fearless Leader: these woodsies can be made into mini scenes
ladytex49:
Fearless Leader: like this
seblack991234: You can also ripe off short samples of wall papers in
mini backgrounds. They are on rolls on shelves meant for this.
Fearless Leader: look at that floor
Fearless Leader: see the floor folks?
ladytex49: yup...
dbluwitch26: scavengers!!!!!!!!
seblack991234: Yep...see the floor
ladytex49: looks good to me...
seblack991234: Yep I'm a scavenger. LOL
Fearless Leader: made with these squares, just run the grain this way
and that
Fearless Leader: larger squares
ladytex49: Hey doesnt everyone that does mini's scaveng???
Fearless Leader: make larger squares but if you turn the grain this
way and that you'll catch the light like this
ladytex49: makes it look like parquet or something like that...
seblack991234: Ladytex49.....where do you live?
seblack991234: I'm outside of Houston.
ladytex49: Louisiana...but am from Texas and will be going back
there..name is Loretta and yours?
dbluwitch26: i used to send my kids out on scavebger hunts when i
needed goodies for a project...that was a loooot of years ago
seblack991234: Suzanne.....Suz for short because I hate typing Suzanne
all the time. LOL
ladytex49: My kids live in Baytown...
ladytex49: My one and only g'child lives in Baytown as well..
seblack991234: I know where that is.
seblack991234: I have 7 grandkids and one on the way.
Fearless Leader: kiddos
ladytex49: Nawwww...ya do???
Fearless Leader: let's keep this for the breaks
ladytex49: yes yeach?
Fearless Leader: let's move on with the Demo
ladytex49: oops Teach..
Fearless Leader: yeach
seblack991234: Yep. I am going on 56 February the 8th.
Fearless Leader: I'll take that title
ladytex49: yes m'am..sorry...
Fearless Leader: for the other folks and so I don't loose my place in
the plan
seblack991234: Sorry...NJ...got carried away. LOL
Fearless Leader: Breaks come regular, we can exchange socially then
Fearless Leader: what we need is when I'm not typing for you folks to
type what you see
Fearless Leader: whether you understand it yet or not
seblack991234: Yes, mam.
Fearless Leader: add pearls of mini wisdom
Fearless Leader: it'll help those who can't be here, Virtual Scribes
Fearless Leader: that's what would be right handy and I'd be obliged,
Fearless Leader:
ladytex49: yes m,am..won't happen again...
Fearless Leader: these woodsies
Fearless Leader: can be used inside the clay as well as structural
support
Fearless Leader: let me show you
Fearless Leader: this is a Japanese chair
Fearless Leader: no legs
Fearless Leader: and a low table, one of the square woodsies fell off
and I will replace it but you'll get the idea
dbluwitch26: NJ can i ask what you are using for glue
Fearless Leader: for the wood, here I used E6000
Fearless Leader: stinky stuff
Fearless Leader: C clamps
dbluwitch26: i know
Fearless Leader: traditional doll house methods
ladytex49: I have been looking for away to make little benches for my
Klay Kidz...
Fearless Leader: ok I get wood already cut to size
Fearless Leader: here you can see the construction
Fearless Leader: side
Fearless Leader: back
Fearless Leader: shelves on the inside
Fearless Leader: it is One Tatami Mat's worth of space
Fearless Leader: a college student would have about as much space
Fearless Leader: but what if
Fearless Leader: it were not perceived as one inch scale as with
JenDoll here
Fearless Leader: take the big squares and put a sloping roof on it
Fearless Leader: it's the start of a General Store in the old West
Fearless Leader: for 1/2 scale
boobearns joined the room
dbluwitch26: mr mousie???
Fearless Leader: nope Matron Woman!
Fearless Leader: with a Sassy the Cat face
dbluwitch26: gotta clean my glasses
boobearns left the room
Fearless Leader: the smaller the scale the more you're able to build
your furniture totally with clay
Fearless Leader: these patterns are cane work
Fearless Leader: reduced to a rediculous scale
dbluwitch26: what a sweet chair and ottaman, is it clay, well that
answered that
Fearless Leader: since you can reduce cane design
Fearless Leader: if you make a cabbage rose or some multi petaled
flower
Fearless Leader: and repeated it and reduced it you get patterned
sheets
Fearless Leader: I laid it over crap clay, like fabric
Fearless Leader: see the bottom
Fearless Leader: don't use your good cane for the color to go all the
way through
Fearless Leader: if you're not going to carve it later
Fearless Leader: slice thin
Fearless Leader: use like fabric
Fearless Leader: any questions on this mini clay furniture?
dbluwitch26: do you use a foil foundation
frogger70301: I gotts go. I thought Lene was sleeping, but she fooled
me. Must have woke up.
frogger70301: Bye for now.
ladytex49: byeeeee
frogger70301 left the room
Fearless Leader: no foil for the small furniture
Fearless Leader: doesn't need that sort of reinforcement
Fearless Leader: let me show you some other things
Fearless Leader: smaller yet
dbluwitch26: just shaped clay
Fearless Leader: This was made in Holland
Fearless Leader: by a former claymate
Fearless Leader: wood, beads, wire
Fearless Leader: paint
Fearless Leader: glue
Fearless Leader: you name it
Fearless Leader: a little mirror in the center there
Fearless Leader: shall we see it against the room box for size
reference?
dbluwitch26: oh wow it's micro
Fearless Leader: yuppers
seblack991234: It's great!
dbluwitch26: that little bugger is sensational
Fearless Leader: ok now
Fearless Leader: mix your scales
Fearless Leader: there's no rule that our room boxes can't have doll
houses
ladytex49: sure is...
dbluwitch26: welll everybody need toys, even the toys
Fearless Leader: this hutch is made with woodsies
Fearless Leader: filed with jeweler's files
Fearless Leader: hinge from modle ship builders supply
ladytex49: This is a mazing!!!
dbluwitch26: it's precious
Fearless Leader: then make pinch pots to fit without falling out
Fearless Leader: the floors and walls are covered with adhesive shelf
paper
Fearless Leader: the shelf on the wall is made of scrap woodsies
Fearless Leader: and I had some pottery that fit snug on the shelf and
against the ceiling
Fearless Leader: I'll find it but we need a bed
Fearless Leader: ok, what is this bed made of?
dbluwitch26: tooth picks
Fearless Leader: exactly
Fearless Leader: and woodsies
Fearless Leader: half rounds
dbluwitch26: very sweet
Fearless Leader: Mz Peggye made it from San Antonio
Fearless Leader: with a winged back chair
dbluwitch26: fantastic
ladytex49: I am impressed for sure...
Fearless Leader: now let's populate this scene
Fearless Leader: crap I got thunder
Fearless Leader: well let's see how long I can stay on
Fearless Leader: it's not on us yet
Fearless Leader: Mr. Mousie got hurt coming to me
Fearless Leader: so we made this room for him to convales
Fearless Leader: bed and chair by Mz Peggye
Fearless Leader: Mouse by Carol
Fearless Leader: mini mice by a German former claymate
dbluwitch26: he's soo cute
Fearless Leader: here's his book
dbluwitch26: must have put the cat away...the mice are playing
Fearless Leader: by mixing our scales
Fearless Leader: a one inch scale room box, with half inch and quarter
inch toys and doll houses
Fearless Leader: is more real to me
Fearless Leader: and things all junked up
Fearless Leader: not Home Beautiful, but Home lived in
ladytex49: yeah that looks alot my my house for sure///
Fearless Leader: mini lighting
Fearless Leader: let's turn off the big light and see how the mini
lights hold up on their own
Fearless Leader: with soft lighting, using the shadows naturally
Fearless Leader: not lighting up the room box like an operating room
Fearless Leader: you get a warm homey feel
Fearless Leader: and you can over look the fact that the carpet is
printed copy paper
Fearless Leader: and the furniture is turned over pudding cups
Fearless Leader: there
Fearless Leader: any questions or comments
dbluwitch26: where's the pudding cup
dbluwitch26: oh, the table!!!
seblack991234: Just love show and tell and classes like this!
seblack991234: I feel like I am right there with you Nora Jean.
techi_mom56: neat ideas to make and send to mother for her suprise
gift
dbluwitch26: you bet, she has such a knack for this
ladytex49: It is sooo informative...It is wonderful...
Fearless Leader: now this room box started out empty
dbluwitch26: so what other unusual things are hidden in there
Fearless Leader: and was filled with things that were made from scraps
and bits of stuff
techi_mom56: and i can sit and make strips for my pratice baskets
Fearless Leader: a binder clip box is the base for the big table
Fearless Leader: the rug is printed copy paper
Fearless Leader: the Jim Collin's printables have nice rugs
Fearless Leader: all the Christmas wrapping on the big table and the
ornaments are all scav'd stuff
dbluwitch26: i use a lot of empty thread spools for tables, woodsies
for tops
sylsnovelties joined the room
dbluwitch26: hi syl
sylsnovelties: Hi everyone!
ladytex49: hey syl
sylsnovelties: I'll bet I missed tons!
Fearless Leader: good time for a potty break and I'll save log
