04-13-04: Mini Beads |
Mini Necklace made of Orchid Cane reduced small and chopped as Natasha beads, mixed with leaves. |
The necklace on the PenPal is removable at this point. The head dress is uncured and I think I'll attach it to the head with TLS Hair Mix, just glop it on and the "hair" will go between the petals.

No matter what size you work in the technique remains the same. Take slices of cane.
Chop it up | |
Give it a toss to mix up the colors
Compress without twisting or stretching
Smooth to a square log | |
Slice down the length | |
Open like a book | |
Slice down the length on both sides and open them up like a book
Put the turned sides together for the two halves
Lay a bead wire down the center
Close it up. Now you could just do a mess of these and hang them off of a real sized necklace. Just make sure there's a hook on the end to keep the clay from sliding off.
Now what we're going to do is pull the bead wire out a bit to give us some room to move.
Pinch the end of the Natasha log.
Once done slice off your half done bead.
Thread on the wire again and pinch the other end.
When you can slice off oval beads or leave the log as is.
This is how I cure them. I have leaves and petals. The Petals weren't curled over enough, leaving a gap and they ended up falling off of the mini necklace.
