electron_forge: Its eaiser if I'm Douglas I guess
DTIntermart: LOL
electron_forge: Dicro?
DTIntermart: << DICHRO DOUG
Fearless Leader: Ok to review what I've done so far
miss_meme_30: call one ddoug
miss_meme_30: lol
Fearless Leader: I took this Poinsettia cane
jill_z_q: lol
Fearless Leader: cut out the excess black
chelyha55: why dichro, Doug?
DTIntermart: Dicroic Glass, Doug
chelyha55: you sell it?
Fearless Leader: Pressed the cut slices and put them on a black
background
Shannon: are you making a tin NJ?
Fearless Leader: now instead of pressing this sheet
jill_z_q: was thinking that Shannon LOL
DTIntermart: trying to make jewlery from it, but my wirew wrap neesd
work...
Fearless Leader: I want to show you how to get a more 3D look
chelyha55: ahh
chelyha55: I suck at wire wrapping too
perceptionsnpc: ok
jill_z_q: that looks cool
perceptionsnpc: cool
marlea_anderson: do you outline them ?
electron_forge: that's cool, hadn't noticed the 3d effect earlier
DTIntermart: Alot of work...
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Very dimensional
Fearless Leader: The trick to this is since there's black on the
edges, it looks like shadow
Shannon: that's really neat!!!
chelyha55: I didn't mean that you suck at it, just that I do
chelyha55: I have friends who are awesome at it
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Great idea, instant shadow
chelyha55: so I let them do my wrapping
DTIntermart: LOL I do suck at it..
chelyha55: that's cute NJ
chelyha55: LOL Doug
Fearless Leader: we'll just use this spare tin for something to
stick this on to.
electron_forge: where's that quarter jar Doug?
electron_forge: cha ching
jill_z_q: hehe]
Fearless Leader: Taking the cone shaped clay shaper I'll go around
the edges
alix: Anyone done wire crochet?
chelyha55: we aren't putting ourselves down, just acknowledging our
limitations
electron_forge: just teasing him
jill_z_q: no but I know this lady who does viking knit that is outta
of this world
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: NJ, (Sharon speaking in a plaintive little
voice) Can I buy that tin from you??
electron_forge: I HOPE he knows it
marlea_anderson: that's what I thought- outlining, cool
DTIntermart: LOL that is how I got into this a friend asked me to do
here wire wrap, she makes dichro, I thought it would be easy so I
went out & bought a tone of wire & dichro to learn it, well it AINT
Easy LOL
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Alix, I have crocheted wire
Shannon: so, you're just pressing around the edges, to smooth
them... and the flower stays at it's original level
chelyha55: well fusing the glass is easy and fun, but the wrapping,
no thanks
alix: Sharon ... what wire you use? Beads?
electron_forge: So she is just rounding the raised leaf and flower
edges into the black backing?
Fearless Leader: There's different levels and we'll accentuate it by
pressing in on the black between the petals and leaves
DTIntermart: LOL true, but I refuse to give up I will get it right
if I live long enough LOL
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: I just used some very thin, 30 gauge wire
DTIntermart: NJ that is awsome...
chelyha55: Hehe. I haven't done any fusing in awhile
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: After crocheting it I just falttened it
and made it into a neclace chain
chelyha55: I should do it now while the weather is cold
jill_z_q: I think I'm going to buy a kiln
alix: Brass? copper? what?
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: I did not crochet bead on the wire as I
went
DTIntermart: Doug, I know you were kidding, no Prob :)
Shannon: I fused some chicken to my wrought iron skillet the other
nite ;-)
electron_forge: cool
chelyha55: it scares me a little, knowing how hot they get
jill_z_q: LOL Shannon
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Brass
DTIntermart: LOL Shannon
Shannon: =))
jill_z_q: I want to do some pmc
Fearless Leader: Now the next thing I'll do is press in where we
have separation lines in the petals and the leaves, gives it even
more texture and sense of depth
chelyha55: you have to have a kiln with a digital timer and temp
control to do pmc
alix: Burnt popcorn good to texturize stainless steel pots too
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Alix, I have some Darice Craft wire that
comes in colors
chelyha55: or you can get a hot box and get an adapter
jill_z_q: Yeah I think I found a good source for Kiln
DTIntermart: Funny part i am very good at wire work but when i wrap
the cabs I always mess up :)
jill_z_q: and I made enough money that I can get one
chelyha55: I wouldn't think it would be easy to wrap a round object
xihuan_ni2004 (xing_jiao18) joined the room
electron_forge: HI Xihuan
Shannon: welcome Xihuan!
chelyha55: I can't afford the pmc so I don't have to worry
Jmouse: what are you doing now NJ?
electron_forge: Wow. looks like that tool she is using has a super
soft tip.
DTIntermart: irt isnt unless you grind a channel in it first,
butthat is messy & requires a grinder, expensive, alsoloks so-so the
best wraps are without thew channel..
Shannon: Jmouse, she's indenting inside the petals and leaves
Jmouse: oh... okay..
jill_z_q: I also want to do some enameling
Shannon: Douglas, the clay shapers are WONDERFUL!
electron_forge: like the leaf veins
dragonladyw2001: Ladies and Gents, I wanted to stay to watch
everything, but I'm completely wiped out. I'll talk with you later.
electron_forge: ?
chelyha55: yeah, I don't have a grinder or any of the other stuff,
just the kiln
Shannon: nite DL!
chelyha55: nitey nite
DTIntermart: night DL
dragonladyw2001: Everyone have a safe and wonderful holiday season.
Rossija: goodnight!
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: Nite Hon, Get your rest
jill_z_q: nini sweet dreams
chelyha55: you too
alix: nite DL
electron_forge: I have a couple but hte tips are much more stiff
than those
Jmouse: I have a couple but don't find a use for them often
dragonladyw2001 left the room
electron_forge: I would have loved to have some smaller, softer ones
when I sculped my head...
DTIntermart: Doug, there are different shapers with different
hardnesses...
Shannon: really Jmouse? I use them on my figures all the time! they
work so much better than anything else I've tried!
electron_forge: not in Wichita apparently LOL
Shannon: Ohhhh... I see Douglas
perceptionsnpc: I have a set of those coming.
electron_forge: universal
chelyha55: that is lovely NJ
marlea_anderson: wow- that really stands out NJ
Shannon: look at the 3 D effect now!
perceptionsnpc: Bought them from Pcyourway
electron_forge: Percep, where did you get your set from? How much?
Shannon: yes, I'd love to have a set of the teeny clay shapers!
electron_forge: wow ESP
jill_z_q: so when does the next polymer cafe come out?
Jmouse: haven't done figures in a long time,, but I can see how
they'd be good there
chelyha55: dunno
DTIntermart: January, jill
jill_z_q: oh blech
Shannon: NJ hold it slant ways again, will ya?
perceptionsnpc: I have to look at the website and let ya know ok? brb
chelyha55: I got the fall one and the next one I will be waiting for
is Summer '05
jill_z_q: does it say on the site I looked the other day
jill_z_q: that is a long wait Cheryl
Fearless Leader: was that ok Shannon?
Jmouse: looks good NJ
Shannon: I think so NJ.... wanted to try to catch the shadows!
chelyha55: well I have a subscription so I'll get them all
xing_jiao18 left the room
Shannon: thanks!
chelyha55: but Summer is the one I'm on the cover of
perceptionsnpc: 19.50 for a set of size "0"
Fearless Leader: so that's how it is uncured
jill_z_q: Yeah I know...long time wait
chelyha55: i have to do the photos and text for that how-to
DTIntermart: Where Percept.?
perceptionsnpc: Nj what size shaper are you using?
electron_forge: Can anyone tell me what size tools NJ was uning
there? for reference?
Shargoose=Sharon V in TN: I can see all sorts of uses for this
technique, NJ
electron_forge: ESP I Swear
chelyha55: and get ready to teach in Florida in April!
Fearless Leader: Use what ever works for you, Douglas
jill_z_q: they paying for your flight I hope!
chelyha55: yep
jill_z_q: good
chelyha55: I have some of those shapers too but I never use them
Fearless Leader: Ok, so this is what it looks like uncured, and here
is the cured inside of the tin, using this same technique
chelyha55: I like my knitting needles better
jill_z_q: My folks where just in florida
chelyha55: Laurel is going with me
jill_z_q: they are in New Orleans right now
Jmouse: I'm covering a notebook with canes...maybe I'll try
that 'denting'
miss_meme_30: great nj!
Shannon: that's really neat!
chelyha55: that is really nice
perceptionsnpc: I love the way the flowers stand out on this will be
trying it
Fearless Leader: Ok, so next is what to do with all the holly leaves

who it was for though...
Jmouse: okay Shannon
marlea_anderson: for missy and me
chelyha55: Sharon I made two hummingbirds
Fearless Leader: So for the center of the mini wreath I'll use a
face mold,
Shannon: ok Marlea! I knew there were a couple asking about it!
miss_meme_30: i wanna see the hair
miss_meme_30: lol
marlea_anderson: lol= we were the ones bugging her
