Face Sculpting Index - Saturday Demo - Log 4- Starting on the Big Face

Demo Stuff

norajean_sf: well we seem to have lost Maz for a bit. Shall we continue with the aluminum foil armature? Then we can cover it with some skin clay. OR... we can put skin clay over a larger skull form and do a larger face for practice. Either or is fine with me.
clayladyinred: my vote is for the face
norajean_sf: big face?
norajean_sf: vote please ladies and I'll save log while you do
leasbeadheaven: i'd prefer a small face, bu whatever everyone else wants is fine
clayladyinred: yeah that is fine with me
raven_hill_wench: doesnt matter to me
clayladyinred: ditto
clayladyinred: LOL
nndewbre: either
clayladyinred: I'm interested in the tissue depth issue
clayladyinred: although those links will help a great deal :-)
norajean_sf: back
clayladyinred: wb :-)
clayladyinred: helping hubby with some guacamole real quick
norajean_sf: this form here has the tissue depth filled in a bit, so with one layer of skin clay and a few more lumps of clay for features we can get a big face. Would that be alright for everyone?
raven_hill_wench: yep
clayladyinred: oh ok.... yep that's fine
norajean_sf: we can always do a body in smaller scale afterwards.
norajean_sf: First I'll cover the form with aluminum foil as a release.
clayladyinred: do you want shots of this NJ?
raven_hill_wench: is it smarter to do the head firt then work the body around the head? or it doesnt make a difference which is done first?
norajean_sf: Aren't you helping your hubs with guacamole?
clayladyinred: turns out he's ok by himself for the time being :-)
norajean_sf: When I do figures of a smaller scale I cover head and body with one layer of skin clay and then work on the face, adding another layer of skin clay for features.
norajean_sf: so the body and the head match
raven_hill_wench: ok
norajean_sf: if you can take screen shots of this Shannon it would be appreciated.
clayladyinred: ok!
norajean_sf: you can tell me when to stop to catch a shot here and there if you need to.
clayladyinred: ok :-)
norajean_sf: Just say "go" when you're ready for the next shot.
norajean_sf: want to take this shot first?
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: ok, now I'll cover it with foil and you can get the next shot, ok?
clayladyinred: yep
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
raven_hill_wench: how smooth does the foil have to be?
norajean_sf: as smooth as you can get it, I use a tool handle to press the foil to the head form
raven_hill_wench: am I annoying yet? rofl
norajean_sf: I love you honey, there's no annoying questions.
raven_hill_wench: lol ok
norajean_sf: ;-)
raven_hill_wench: I love you for sharing all this information with us
norajean_sf: Now I'll put one layer of skin clay on this head form, it's pressed at the widest setting on the pasta machine, for no other purpose than I'm lazy.
clayladyinred: LOL
raven_hill_wench: less tears in thicker clay
nndewbre: gg, computer acting screwy
nndewbre: bye
nndewbre has left the conference.

norajean_sf: ok
raven_hill_wench: ghostly
norajean_sf: got the shot Shannon?
clayladyinred: yep
norajean_sf: ok, now shall we add a nose?
clayladyinred: ok :-)
norajean_sf: all we have is the bone structure there, we need a nose bridge and nostrils
norajean_sf: let's do the face grid so the nose doesn't get hella long
raven_hill_wench: pinnochio!
norajean_sf: and the V shape on the side so the nose doesn't get hella wide
norajean_sf: I'll add clay lumps to build the nose, Shannon do you want to take a lump by lump series of shots?
clayladyinred: ok :-)
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: ok
nndewbre has joined the conference.

You have invited nndewbre to view your webcam.

clayladyinred: got it
nndewbre: I'm baaaccckkk
raven_hill_wench: how big are the lumps?
clayladyinred: welcome back :-)
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
mazutwo has joined the conference.

nndewbre: ty
You have invited mazutwo to view your webcam.

clayladyinred: Maz is back!
norajean_sf: Norma and Maz, Shannon's taking a step by step screen shot capture of what's going on. While you were away all we did was prepare skin clay and start covering this larger face form.
norajean_sf: we didn't do the aluminum foil armature, we can do that next, ok?
mazutwo: I'm back
mazutwo: Thanks
nndewbre: any way is fine with me NJ
norajean_sf: Maz, I know you were interested in doing the smaller scale forms and I didn't want you to miss it. So we'll do this big face and then move to smaller scale.
norajean_sf: anything you've missed will be in the screen shots
mazutwo: Thanks NJ
norajean_sf: now with this nose here. I'm going to smooth the different lumps together by hand since it's big enough to do so.
leasbeadheaven: question...where can we find the screen shots to look at later on?
norajean_sf: Shannon do you want to do a smear by smear shot of this nose smoothing?
norajean_sf: The link will go to the list
norajean_sf: and also be linked to my site.
leasbeadheaven: ok. thanks
clayladyinred: yep
norajean_sf: say when, Shannon, my darling Screen Shooter.
clayladyinred: sorry, hubby had me tasting his guacamole LOL
clayladyinred: anytime you're ready!
norajean_sf: you got this shot?
clayladyinred: yup
norajean_sf: cool
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: k
mazutwo: going to your site is an adventure NJ you never know what awaits around the next bend
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: can't see it well NJ, can you turn it a bit?
clayladyinred: that's good
norajean_sf: ok?
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: Maz, thanks, it's fun to share experiments.
norajean_sf: now I'll use a tool around the sides of the nostril
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: around the mouth is a pentagon of flesh, The upper lip is two sides of the pentagon, the sides of the mouth are two more, under the lower lip is another, we need to build up this area.
raven_hill_wench: smile lines!
clayladyinred: interesting way of picturing it
norajean_sf: the upside down V shape from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth, that's where the laugh lines are located.
norajean_sf: exactly Shawna
clayladyinred: got that shot
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
mazutwo: i have to chat every now and then as my server shuts me down otherwise
raven_hill_wench: chat away maz
clayladyinred: LOL then chat away!
raven_hill_wench: heh
mazutwo: is that lumo you blended in a particular size per head size NJ
mazutwo: lump
raven_hill_wench: where did his mouth go?
norajean_sf: Shannon, full face or profile, it's just the lip lump
mazutwo: it is blended and then the tool is used to push the clay into place
clayladyinred: full face... the profiles are not showing up very well for some reason
norajean_sf: lip lumps depend on the race you're aiming for
norajean_sf: English men of upper class have little lip lumps if any
norajean_sf: LOL
raven_hill_wench: I have little lip lumps lol
norajean_sf: just a slash on their face
mazutwo: ok thanks
mazutwo: really
greatauntjudy: That mean they can't have a stiff upper lip?
norajean_sf: Odd that the profiles aren't showing up. I'd have thought that would work better, ok, Full face.
raven_hill_wench: lol
clayladyinred: he looks like the person on the twilight zone movie... the girl with no mouth... creepy!! LOL
norajean_sf: I always thought a stiff upper lip was a sneer.
mazutwo: yes it shows now
clayladyinred: I think it's the lighting NJ
mazutwo: no emotion showing Nj to prove manhood
norajean_sf: ok, now let's put that indentation on the upper lip, center, starting from under the center of the nose.
raven_hill_wench: I always wondered what the purpose of that indent was
norajean_sf: ok
norajean_sf: Shannon does that show up?
clayladyinred: got it... do you have the light pointed straight at his face? think we're getting a glare
mazutwo: I always thought it was if your nose runs the stuff goes down the side of the mouth not in it
raven_hill_wench: eww
norajean_sf: lights are coming from three directions
clayladyinred: LOL
clayladyinred: hmmmmmmmmmmm
norajean_sf: how's that?
clayladyinred: that's a little better :-)
clayladyinred: got it
norajean_sf: now I'll form under the lower lip before we put a separation of the lips.
norajean_sf: ok
clayladyinred: got it
clayladyinred: I see what my problem is... I need tiny little fingers to work on my small faces.... ;-)
mazutwo: LOL i see an artist at work and i am not one
clayladyinred: shame shame! quarter in the jar please Maz LOL
norajean_sf: everywhere my fingers to your clay shapers go on smaller faces
mazutwo: ok
clayladyinred: got that pic....
clayladyinred: clay shapers AND a good magnifying glass LOL
norajean_sf: Ok, it's the top of the hour. I got to save log, Shannon do you want to start sending those pix to the Epson album?
mazutwo: yes I knew that I was joking I am not really dumb just joshing
norajean_sf: after the top of the hour break we can do something with his eyes.
clayladyinred: yeah.... I'll do that :-)
norajean_sf: and I'll get a link before I save log on how the eyes are going to be done.
mazutwo: what jar do I put the money in and where does it go the money that is
clayladyinred: I knew you weren't dumb :-*
norajean_sf: Sculpt/Eyeball/04-24-03-Thms
norajean_sf: Scroll down on this page to see how the eyes are going to be done. I'll be back after saving log. Break time, Maz chat up a storm so you don't get booted off. LOL
clayladyinred: Maz the quarter jar is where we pay up when we put ourselves down.... it's not real LOL
clayladyinred: stepping away for a minute
mazutwo: see that was a dumb question
nndewbre: biaf
